Otto Max Radloff
Born in Basehor, Kansas in 1895, Otto was drafted into WWI at age 23. The following is an excerpt from his personal account of his military history: “I took military training at Camp Funston October 2, 1917 to March 1st, 1918. Was transferred to Camp Hoboken, New Jersey where I spent three weeks in training. On April 2nd was sent to France via Liverpool, England and Brussels thence to Camp Charlie Town where I spent three weeks in training before being ordered to Marne; participated in the battles of the Marne, Jaulgonne and the Argonne Forest; at the Battle of Argonne Forest I received a bullet wound in the right arm was sent to the base hospital at Tours on October 7th where I remained until December 28th. I received an honorable discharge from the Service on April 25, 1919 at Camp Funston.” At the time of his discharge he was paid $125.14.
Story of your coin: In honor of my Grandfather’s service to our country during the War to end all Wars, World War I, I have awarded him Honor Coin 003 in tribute to him.
