James C. Coudeyras

Commander James C. Coudeyras is a native of Beatrice, NE. He graduated with Distinction from the University of Kansas in December 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering.  In February 1994, he enrolled in the Nuclear Power Officer Candidate program and reported to Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL upon graduation from KU. After receiving a commission as an Ensign in April 1995, he reported to Nuclear Power School before proceeding to Naval Weapons Station, Charleston, SC, where he met his wife, Melissa. At NWS, he re-designated as a Cryptologic Officer, now Information Warfare Officer. Upon completing the Cryptologic Division Officer’s Course in 1998 at Corry Station, FL, he reported to Naval Security Group Activity, Misawa, Japan.  Following Misawa, James reported aboard the USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG-79) in August 2001, serving as the Signals Warfare Officer and qualifying as a Surface Warfare Officer. During that time, OSCAR AUSTIN participated in the NATO Exercise STRONG RESOLVE and deployed to the Mediterranean Sea and Persian Gulf in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.  He then entered the Space Systems Engineering Curriculum at Naval Postgraduate School in September 2003, where he graduated in December 2005 with a Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering.  In January 2006, James reported to the Navy staff as a Research and Development (R&D) Project Officer in the Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) Office, where he managed various projects covering SIGINT, IMINT, Advanced Geo-spatial intelligence (AGI), and multi-intelligence fusion and James then reported to Commander, Carrier Strike Group Seven as the Cryptologic Resource Coordinator in November 2008, which included a Western Pacific/Arabian Gulf deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  James reported to US Pacific Command in September 2010, where he is served as the Chief, Collections Management for the Joint Intelligence Operations Center. He oversaw the stand-up of the Intelligence Mission Management Center and helped implement Command and Control of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C2 of ISR) and ISR Mission Management initiatives, as well as collection strategies to support Operation TOMODACHI disaster relief efforts in Japan, provocations on the Korean Peninsula, tensions in the East and South China Seas, and numerous other events.  He is married to the former Melissa Lepley, and they have two boys, Alex and Austin.
