Peter R. Solano
Born in Denver, CO. Pete attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where he played varsity football and earned a bachelors degree in Political Science and Spanish. One month after graduation, Pete attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Pete served in Quantico, VA, Okinawa Japan, Kaneohe, Hawaii and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pete travelled throughout the Pacific rim and Horn of Africa conducting various security, anti-terrorism and force protection related missions. Pete served two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in Kuwait and Iraq. During his second tour, he received a bullet wound to his left arm in a firefight outside of Ar Ramadi in the Al Anbar provide of Iraq. Pete was medically retired and frocked to the rank of Major in 2005.
Story of your Coin: This coin has special meaning as not only is it coin 001, it is the culmination of an idea by Jon Radloff to develop a tangible and meaningful way for people to express sincere gratitude to veterans for their service. I am humbled to be part of the Honor Wall and look forward to reading all the stories posted.
