Terri Wiebold

Terri Wiebold was born Tearesa Jean Redecker in San Antonio, Texas, and moved to the Philippines when she was only four weeks old.  This was the first of what would be many moves throughout her lifetime as the daughter of an Air Force officer, a lifestyle that forged a love of country and a patriotism that remains with Terri today.  Following graduation from California State University, Chico with a degree in Marketing Communications and a minor in Business, Terri worked in finance in local government in California before making an unexpected career change.  One of only six women in a department of more than 200 officers, Terri became a public safety officer for the City of Sunnyvale (SDPS) in California.  During her nearly six years as a police officer/firefighter/EMT, Terri had the distinct privilege to work solo patrol, mostly graveyard shifts; as a neighborhood resource officer working with educational programming for kids in school; and as a driver, pump engineer and firefighter in the firehouse.  Terri reflects back on her time with Sunnyvale DPS as one of the greatest jobs she ever had, second only to being a mother.  The uniqueness of the department – that officers rotate back and forth between the police services and fire services – made it both challenging and rewarding.  In 1998, Terri left the department to move to Colorado with her husband, Bob Wiebold,  and start a family.  While her time as a public safety officer was not a lifelong career, Terri carries with her the esprit de corps for the men and women she worked with, as well as respect for those around the world who share the same bond.  Terri is grateful for the opportunities provided to her through SDPS, and for those men and women who continue to serve others day-in and day-out for a greater good, both in the military and as first responders.
